Become an ARRL Volunteer Examiner: Join Us April 8th, 2026

Overview & Importance of Volunteer Examiners

Volunteer Examiners (VEs) are a critically important part of the amateur radio hobby, serving as the backbone for bringing in new licensees. Nobody becomes an amateur radio operator without first taking a licensing test, administered by at least 3 VEs. The national cadre consists of dedicated people who volunteer their time and effort administering exams, the benefits of which include accomplishing personal growth goals, fostering community involvement, and enhancing the hobby’s sustainability.

If you’re interested in being a Volunteer Examiner, regardless of current license class, come join us at the Clubhouse on April 8th, 2026, at 7 PM for an overview of the process for becoming one through the ARRL VEC (American Radio Relay League – the coordinating body we report testing results to) as well as the testing platform (Exam Tools) we use locally.

By the end of the night, you’ll know everything you need to become a VE with the ARRL and start administering tests and helping to sustain the amateur radio hobby.
