Upcoming License Test Session (Sep 20th)

We are having our next license test session on September 20th at 13:00(1PM) where you will have the opportunity to test for the technician, general, or amateur extra license classes.

What should I do before taking the test?

Before taking the test, please register at https://hamstudy.org, as we have started integrating their exam tools into our testing process. Before attending any exam session (in-person or remote, regardless of who is conducting it or with which organization it is affiliated), you will need to get a FRN through the FCC. A FRN is a unique number that the FCC will use to identify you for all future licensing business. If you have been issued any type of FCC license since the 1990s (including GMRS), you likely already have a FRN.

Can I study on my own?

Yes! It is very doable to pass the technician license test with independent study alone. The test consists of basic math and various operating rules, and the best resources to study are hamstudy.org and hambook.org

What will I need at the exam?

Please bring the $15 exam fee, ID, and your FRN number.

The test will take place at the SAARC clubhouse, which is located at 5513 Stewart Ln. If you have any questions about getting licensed please feel free to reach out to us at ve.team@w5qx.org and we can talk you through the process.
